FAQ

How do I apply?+

Apply online directly through our website — no broker, no in-person visit required. You'll need proof of income (last two pay stubs or offer letter), photo ID, and a credit check authorization. Lease signing happens electronically through our secure portal.

What do I pay at lease signing?+

First month, last month, security deposit, and a $50 application fee per applicant. No broker fee, no amenity fee, no other surprises.

Do you allow pets?+

Pets are reviewed case-by-case rather than blanket-approved or denied. Reach out and we'll talk through breed, weight, and number.

Where can I do laundry?+

There's shared on-site laundry available to all tenants, right in the building. No in-unit washer/dryer at this property.

Do any units have A/C?+

Yes — every unit at 4 Hawes Street has wall A/C installed. No need to buy or install your own.

What utilities are included?+

Heat is included building-wide — a meaningful perk through New England winters. Hot water is included in some units and tenant-paid in others; we'll let you know which side a specific unit falls on. Tenants pay their own electric and gas.

Is there an elevator at 4 Hawes Street?+

No. 4 Hawes Street is a four-story walk-up. Floors 1, 2, and 3 each have a 1-bedroom (the 'B' units) plus four 2-bedrooms. Unit 4B is the only top-floor apartment.

What's the parking situation?+

On-site parking is available to tenants — confirm spot assignment when you reach out about a specific unit. Street parking is also available with a Revere resident permit.

How do I get to the beach from 4 Hawes Street?+

Revere Beach — the country's first public beach, opened in 1896 — is about 0.9 miles away, roughly an 18-minute walk or quick bike ride. The Blue Line's Revere Beach and Wonderland stations also drop you right at the boardwalk.

Are the buildings monitored?+

Yes. All DJ Realty buildings have surveillance cameras recording 24/7. Footage is reviewed only when there's a reported incident.

Who handles maintenance requests?+

Our in-house construction team. We have a Licensed Construction Supervisor and Licensed Real Estate Broker on staff, with a full-time crew. For non-emergency requests, we respond by email or text within 1 to 24 hours. For emergencies (water, heat, security), we respond 24/7.

What's the lease length?+

Standard leases are 12 months. We do offer some flexibility for academic-year leases (9-10 months) on select units — ask if that's what you need.

Can I tour remotely or apply from out of state?+

Yes. Many of our tenants apply before they're physically in the area. We do video tours, accept remote applications, and handle electronic lease signing. You don't need to be in Boston until move-in day.
